2024 CANNRA External Stakeholder Meeting: Minneapolis, MN

WHAT WAS THE MEETING PURPOSE?

The purpose of this meeting was to bring together a diverse array of national and international stakeholders in cannabis and cannabinoid policy, representing a range of perspectives and opinions, to engage in discussions with CANNRA member regulators and other attendees on cannabis and cannabinoid regulatory and policy topics. We purposefully sought to avoid an echo chamber and to engage groups that have differing viewpoints. Opinions and perspectives shared at this meeting were those of the individuals or organizations sharing them and did not represent an official position of CANNRA or CANNRA member jurisdictions. See a 1-pager about the event here.

WHAT DID THE EVENT COVER?

The final meeting agenda is available here. The agenda was developed collaboratively by the CANNRA board and CANNRA members who regulate cannabis, cannabinoids, and hemp. Panels were discussion-based and moderated by CANNRA members. Panelists were purposefully selected to represent a diversity of stakeholder perspectives and opinions on an issue. The comments and ideas shared at this meeting did not represent an official position of CANNRA or CANNRA-Member jurisdictions.

WHO ATTENDED?

This meeting sought to convene any nationally or internationally focused entity working on cannabis policy, policy implementation, or regulation. This included organizations working on the following topics related to cannabis and hemp: consumer and product safety, research, standards, technology, policy, advocacy, social justice, equity, data, legal issues, public health, compliance, and clinical engagement. A list of the nearly 200 attending organizations for this meeting is available here.

Eligible attendees were restricted to those groups working at the national and/or international level. Due to capacity, no state-level trade associations, coalitions, or advocacy groups were included. Direct cannabis licensees were not eligible to attend on behalf of their licensed company. Individuals were asked to self-certify that they were not attending representing an entity manufacturing or distributing tobacco, alcohol, or pharmaceutical products. To maximize participation, and to avoid any one group having outsized participation, there was a limit on the number of attendees permitted to attend per eligible stakeholder group.
